Background

Matt Hazelwood is a devoted son, husband, and father of four, as well as a national speaker and youth development consultant. As Director of the Common Sense Culture Program, one of the most sought-after prevention and healthy-relationships initiatives in Central Ohio, Matt brings clarity, connection, and purpose to the lives of students, families, and educators alike. Over the past decade, Matt has impacted thousands of young people by teaching foundational life skills that support strong families, healthy decision-making, and lasting relationships. Known for his relatable and high-energy approach, he has a unique ability to engage, equip, and inspire the next generation while reinforcing research-based principles such as the success sequence and the importance of committed, present fathers. A proud Columbus native Ohio Dominican University Alumni, Matt shares life with his high school sweetheart and wife of 15 years, Jasmine, and their four children. Whether he’s in a classroom, on a stage, partnering with community leaders, or around the dinner table, Matt leads with integrity, passion, and a deep commitment to seeing families and young people thrive.

Why?

Matt’s work is driven by a deep conviction that the decisions young people make early in life shape the trajectory of their future. After years of working directly with students, families, and schools, he has seen firsthand the impact of both strong guidance and the absence of it. He is committed to stepping into that gap equipping the next generation with the character, clarity, and confidence needed to navigate relationships, avoid high-risk behaviors, and build lives marked by stability and purpose. Through his work, Matt aims not only to inform students, but to influence culture by restoring time-tested values that lead to uncommon results.
